LoVid is a generative art duo based in New York. Their interdisciplinary practice spans performances, participatory public art, handmade technologies, textiles, prints, App-art, experimental video, and immersive installation. They frequently juxtapose media and physical objects, handmade engineering and traditional art or craft.

Renowned for blending technology, craftsmanship, and diverse media, their art combines DIY electronics, video art, and live performances. Their projects explore the digital world's physical and emotional impacts, questioning how technology alters our perceptions and communication. The duo creates immersive and interactive art, utilizing self-built electronic devices, video, and sound. Their work is engaging and provokes thought about digital culture's influence on society.

Their style bridges old and new media, reflecting a deep appreciation for craftsmanship. They emphasize the tangible aspects of electronic media, particularly noted for their unique 'live video' productions using custom-made instruments.

Beyond visual art, LoVid engages in community-focused projects and educational workshops, demonstrating their commitment to sharing their knowledge and passion for creative experimentation with technology.

LoVid Installation - Hugs on Tape

LoVid installation of Hugs on Tape, featuring digital audiovisual animations and a dye-sublimation on canvas with hand and machine stitching.

"We’re always interested in the process of translation: from audio to video, from the physical to the virtual, from body movement to composition, from hardware to software."

Pollen Punch by LoVid

Pollen Punch

Pollen Punch is an audiovisual tapestry composed of very short repeating loops pulled from live video recordings. These recordings were created with LoVid’s A/V synthesizer system of handmade instruments engineered and built by the artists. Pollen Punch was exhibited as part of Unit London’s The Pixel Generation.

Stream Processing by LoVid

Stream Processing

Stream Processing explores personal histories through a techno-nostalgic tapestry of analogue, digital and handmade visual materials. The hybridity of this work provides connections between fragmented moments in time, as the histories of ancient mediums such as tapestry merge with those of new technology, all whilst embodying personal moments of creation for the artists.

Hugs on Tape by LoVid
